BT GLOBAL CHALLENGE - Follow up
Finish report second leg : Boston - Buenos Aires, 5.840 Miles
The yacht LG FLATRON skippered by Conard Humpries crossed the finish line at Buenos Aires on 17 November, after 32 days and 20 Hrs at sea. The LG FLATRON was ahead of the fleet during most of the race and finished 100 Miles in front of the second to arrive SPIRIT OF HONG KONG. Third place came the LOGICA.
Light winds and crossing the "Doldrums" characterized this leg. The most difficult part was the tacking up the Rio de la Plata river against the current and very light wind.
The start for the next leg, from Buenos Aires to Wellington in New Zealand is planed for 10th December 2000. The route will take them to the South, passing by the notorious Cap Horn turning to the West, and crossing the South Pacific Ocean, distance of 6.020 Miles.
